Image Quality Engineer                     REF: IQ001

Spectral Edge, a well-funded start up with fantastic growth potential, is a specialist in image processing and computational photography. The company uses patented image fusion algorithms in combination with state of the art machine learning techniques to solve challenging image processing problems, including, among others, multi spectral fusion and multi sensor registration.  

We are growing fast and are now looking for an individual with expertise in Image Quality metrics and techniques to develop our Image Quality team. You will lead our drive to produce the highest quality imaging solutions by fine tuning our image processing systems.

The key duties are:

  • Creating data sets of images for testing and training of our imaging systems

  • Developing and validating lab and real-world IQ tests to identify and solve image quality issues

  • Automating test procedures and documenting test results

  • Proposing system improvements

  • Analysis of image quality data

  • Tuning, testing and verification of our systems

  • Customer interactions on IQ, custom tuning of our image processing systems

The key skills are:

  • Familiarity with digital image processing algorithms such as auto-exposure, auto-white balancing and auto-focus

  • Knowledge of image quality metrics, measurement techniques and optimisation

  • Knowledge of IQ test programs such as Imatest

  • Experience with prototype and camera bench testing methodology

  • Good Matlab skills

  • First degree in Maths, Computer Science or related discipline

  • Good level of programming skills
